North Vancouver Aikikai's Children's Summer Camp 2008

North Vancouver Aikikai ran a children's summer camp this last year and because we are a not for profit, we were eligible for all several local municipal grants. ÊWe were the recipients of a $3000 grant to help run our summer camp in which we were able to offer not only Aikido but Bonsai making, Japanese cooking class, Origami, and Shodo (brush painting andÊcalligraphy). We started with a Tanabata festival which happened to coincide with our summer camp starting date of July 7th. We were able to get a number of Japanese foreign students to volunteer to help with our program as a cross cultural activity. It was a huge success.
