Litchfield hills Aikikai New Mats Celebration May 2009

Litchfield Hills Aikikai had great cause for celebration. This fall the dojo began collecting donations towards purchasing new tatamis. The fund-raiser was a huge success, thanks to the generosity of the dojo members and their families. To celebrate our new mats, we had a specail class, inviting adult members and kids from the children's program to practice together, as well as any of their parents who wanted to get on the mat for the first time. In addition to our classes, the children had the opportunity to do crafts with a Japanese theme - ink blowing and miniature doll making. The spririt of the morning was spectacular, as were the celebratory donuts consumed at the end!
